When we talk about shearing and mixing in cosmeceuticals we need to consider the 3 areas of concern we have which are air, temperature, & time. Depending on our formulation these will vary and as with any cosmeceutical manufacturer the products we produce are diversified. So how do we address the 3 areas of concern while maximizing the versatility of our production lines?
We can address air by simply adding in a deaerator or by processing under vacuum. This will eliminate the air and ensure products look good in packaging as well as have a high shelf life expectancy. This also meets and exceeds GMP, SQF, and FDA.
Then we can address time and temperature by adding stages to our homogenizers & shear pumps, which will shear products quicker with less time. The issue is then heat. To control heat we can jacket the shear pumps to cool them, as well as heat them if needed for some rare products we may need to keep at a constant temperature. When needing to control temperature precisely we can attach a temperature control unit that will do both heat and cool.
The key to engineering products to be sustainable is to engineer them to be universal, allowing for use in various applications.
